Senior Photos Prep Guide

When is the best time to have my senior pictures taken?

Depending on your school’s deadline, pictures can be taken any time of the year. The busiest time for senior photos is August-October so if you would like to book a shoot during that time, it is best to book early.

How do I secure my date?

Session fee payment of $250 for weekdays or $299 for weekends is required upfront to hold your date.

Digital Packages and prints to be purchased separately after you have viewed your gallery. All pricing is listed under the RATES section of the website.

Can a sibling or friend and I have our senior shoot at the same time?

Absolutely! I recommend limiting this to 2 people to get the best results. You each pay your own session fee, and decide on a location. You will get the same shoot time as you would on your own, so don't worry about having to share camera time. As a bonus you will receive 5 FREE images total of you and your sibling or friend together! You will then receive separate galleries to choose your senior pictures from.

Can my family join me for family photos during the session?

Yes, we can add a 20 minute family shoot at the beginning of the session. The session fee price for the combination senior/family shoot is $400. Prints and digitals to be purchased separately after your shoot.

Can I bring my pet to my shoot? Absolutely! I suggest having a family member bring them for a few shots at the beginning or end of your session.

What shall I wear to my shoot?

Choosing the right outfits for your senior photo shoot can feel daunting, but it's an opportunity to express your style and personality. Below are some guidelines to help you pick out what to wear for your senior photo shoot.

1. Reflect Your Personality

Before you start planning outfits, it's important to remember that these photos are about celebrating you and your journey. So, let your personal style guide your clothing choices. If you're a laid-back, casual dresser, you might feel uncomfortable in formal attire. On the other hand, if you adore dressing up, seize this opportunity to show off your favorite formal look. The key is to feel comfortable and confident.

2. Balance Trendy and Timeless

While it's great to incorporate the latest trends, remember that these photos will be around for a long time. Striking a balance between current fashion and timeless classics can prevent your photos from feeling dated in a few years.

3. Consider Your Comfort

You want to look comfortable and confident in your photos, so it's essential to wear clothing that you feel good in.If you're uncomfortable in your clothes, it can show in your photos. Choose something that makes you feel beautiful but also allows you to move freely.

4. Mix and Match

I suggest bringing 2-5 outfits. Consider having a casual outfit, a more formal one, and something in between. Try to bring a variety of outfits that reflect different aspects of your personality and style.

5. Choose the Right Colors

When it comes to choosing the colors of your outfits, consider what complements your skin tone, hair color, and the location of the shoot. Pastels and neutrals often photograph well, and bold colors can create stunning contrasts. However, try to avoid neon colors or overly busy patterns, as they can be distracting.

Seasonal Considerations:

The time of year that your photos are taken can influence your wardrobe choices.

  • Spring/Summer: Lighter fabrics and colors, sun dresses, skirts, shorts, tank tops. Be wary of clothing that may appear see-through in sunlight.
  • Fall/Winter: Sweaters, jackets, jeans, boots, scarves. Layers can add depth to a photo, and you can have options to change the look without a complete outfit swap.

General Tips:

  • Fit: Make sure all your clothes fit well and are not overly baggy or tight, as both can be unflattering in photos.
  • Shoes: Don't forget to consider your footwear. Make sure they are clean and coordinate well with your outfits.
  • Makeup: Keep makeup natural, but a bit more dramatic than everyday wear as the camera tends to wash out some color. Avoid makeup with SPF as it can create a white cast on your face.
  • Hair: Your hairstyle should be something you're comfortable with. Avoid trying a new haircut or style right before your photoshoot.
  • Nails: Make sure your nails are clean and manicured. Consider a neutral color or clear polish.
  • Comfort: You need to be comfortable in your outfit. If you are uncomfortable, it will show in the photos.
  • Iron: Wrinkles can show up in photos, so make sure all your outfits are neatly ironed or steamed.

Planning your outfits for a senior photo shoot may seem overwhelming, but it's also a fun opportunity to express yourself. Remember that these photos will serve as lasting memories of your high school years. Take the time to prepare, choose outfits that reflect your style and personality, and most importantly, enjoy the experience. The genuine smiles and confidence will always make for the best photos.

What happens after the shoot?

2-3 weeks after the shoot you will receive a password protected 3 day online gallery with 40-60 images to choose your images from. You will then select the package you would like to purchase and receive a link to download the images from 24 hours later.

I look forward to meeting you!
